Contract worker dies of cardiac arrest in Tata Steel

Jamshedpur, March 20: A contract worker, identified as Doman Hansda, died of cardiac arrest at the HSM Plant of Tata Steel on 18th March last, sources said.

Sources said Hansda, a resident of Gidhi Jhopri, Bagbera, worked for Richi Enterprises, a contractor of the company. During night shift, Hansda suddenly fell unconscious and collapsed. On being taken to Tata Main Hospital by his colleagues, he was declared brought dead.

On coming to know about the incident, JMM leaders Mahavir Murmu and Arjun Samad spoke to Santu Bhattacharya and Jaidev Sen of Richi Enterprises to demand Rs 7 lakh compensation and Rs 50,000 as ex gratia to the next of kin of the deceased. The JMM leaders also demanded job to a family member of the deceased in Richi Enterprises. They said their demands had been accepted.
