Jamshedpur, April 5: Bablu Gope, a 27 year old contract worker with M/s Abreast Engineering, was engaged in lance jam cutting job at Tata Steel’s LD # 1 when he was hit by hot slag that resulted in severe burns. The incident occurred at 7:40 am on Friday. He was provided immediate medical attention and then rushed to TMH where doctors pronounced him dead.
Tata Steel, in a press communiqué , has condoled the death of Bablu Gope in the Company’s LD # 1 accident and in a message to the deceased’s family has assured that the incident has been promptly reported to the relevant authorities, and an investigation is underway to determine its cause.
It stated, “Tata Steel extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Tata Steel reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of its employees and associated personnel, emphasizing its role as a responsible corporate entity.
