Seraikela, Feb 19: State health minister cum minister in-charge of 20-Point Committee Banna Gupta Saturday claimed the Congress party would emerge as the strongest party at the conclusion of the ongoing state assembly elections in five states. He said the party was sure to get victory in Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

“Congress is all set to win the state assembly elections with a landslide margin in all the five states. The results will prove this,” said Gupta, while interacting with journalists after the public hearing organized on Friday in Seraikela.

The minister said the BJP was trying to make non-issues issues in the state elections. He said the BJP-led Central government was yet to fulfill the promises it made to the people during the last Lok Sabha elections.

“The Centre is keeping mum on the issue of inflation and the current status of rupee. They should explain the sky-high prices of mustard oil and petroleum. Hijab and other communal issues are just meant to mislead the people,” said Gupta.

The Congress leader said various issues such as employment, black money and protection of women had become less important for the BJP-led governments today.
