Congress may steer Koda couple through turbulent sea of corruption

Chaibasa: The Congress will be contesting the Singhbhum Lok Sabha seat. The party is expected to steer the Koda couple�s boat out of the turbulent sea of corruption by giving a ticket to the former Jharkhand Chief Minister�s wife and sitting MLA Geeta Koda a ticket to contest the parliamentary seat. If that be so, then it could mean a spanner in the BJP wheel as the seat is presently occupied by the party parliamentarian and State president Laxman Gilua. As such, the equation looks quite complicated.

With the seat sharing ratio among the Opposition Grand Alliance partners JMM, Congress JVM and RJD, the Singhbhum seat has been allotted to Congress. This ratio has fanned out all the political cards and Geeta Koda is leading the race for a party ticket to contest the Lok Sabha poll from this Singhbhum constituency.

Though Madhu Koda is tottering under the load of money laundering, both he and his wife Geeta Koda have considerable sway in the constituency. Legislator Geeta Koda is from the Jagganathpur constituency. The Koda couple�s influence here may create problems for the BJP and the latter could go back to the drawing board of poll strategy.
