Jamshedpur: District Congress committee activists today met the deputy commissioner (DC) of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal and handed over a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding revocation of hike effected by the Central government in the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG.
District Congress president Ravindra Kumar Jha alleged that the Central government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party had dealt a blow to the expectations of the common man by effecting so many hikes so early after coming into power.
He said the government was taking harsh decisions one after the other and burning a hole in the pocket of the people. He said poor people were adversely affected by the government decisions since they had not been factored in by the government while formulating policies and budget.
The party members said the PM should immediately announce a rollback on the price hike and ensure that essential commodities like potato, onion and sugar are made available to the people at cheaper rates.
The party leaders had earlier burnt the effigy of the Central government to criticize it for its decisions on hiking the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG and also the rail fare.
