Jamshedpur: Congress and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha members burnt effigies of Chief Minister Raghubar Das at Sakchi roundabout to protest police action against anganbari workers in Ranchi. They alleged that the Ranchi district administration had ordered lathicharge on the anganbari workers protesting peacefully in support of their various demands. They said the state government was trying to suppress the voice of anganbari workers.
Leading the protestors, Women�s Congress president Usha Yadav said the police had resorted to barbarism against the anganbari workers.
JVM general secretary Abhay Singh, who led party workers during a demonstration at Sakchi roundabout, said the state government had committed �atrocities� against women. He alleged that the government�s �Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao� campaign was nothing but a farce.
The protestors included Yogendra Sharma alias Munna Sharma, Riyazuddin Khan, Rakesh Sahu, Surendra Sharma, Sushila Pandey, Savita Rai, Sunaina Devi, Beauty Tiwary, Amarjeet Mishra, Jitendra Singh and Durga Prasad.
