Ranchi: The ruling and Opposition members of the Jharkhand Assembly protested against the proposal for implementing the electricity supply franchise system in Ranchi and Jamshedpur during the winter session proceedings on Thursday.
The energy minister Rajendra Prasad Singh said that a high level committee will be formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to make an assessment of the impact of implementing the proposal. He said the proposal will be implemented only when the government makes profit.
The government will hand over the franchise to private companies only when it is assured that it is not going to lose the public money unnecessarily, he said.
Earlier Jharkhand Janadhirkar Manch MLA Bandhu Trikey said that a letter had been written by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India to the state government in this regard and the loopholes of the proposal have been underlined therein.
