Comedian Sundeep Sharma to perform in Jamshedpur on Feb 5

Jamshedpur: Standup comic Sundeep Sharma will be performing in the city on February 5. The standup comic, known for his everyday jokes laced with sarcasm, will be performing in the city for the first time. He will perform at Scratch Sports Bar & Grill, Sonari.

Saurav Sinha, managing director, Scratch said that they have been giving opportunities to local artists to perform but it is for the first time that they have invited a national level comedian to perform. The show will start by 7: 30 pm with performances by the local artists followed by Sundeep himself.  

He informed that Mumbai-based Sundeep is one of the rare comedians who can perform political satires with in-depth knowledge with hilarious analogies that everyone can understand.

“We will ensure that Covid-19 protocols are in place and will allow only limited gathering. Scratch is the new most happening place in Jamshedpur. There is a whole section for bands and artists performing along with delicacies straight from the kitchen. Each element fits the next in perfect conjunction, thus facilitating its function across areas smoothly,” said Sinha.

He also informed that the food is an eclectic mix of continental classics with good old favourites with a generous smattering of some especially curated fusion specials.

“The city youth are discovering their funny bone and participating in stand-up comedy shows. We would like to host more such events in the days to come. It is a new comic style in which an artist/comedian performs in front of a live audience, and wherein the comedian interacts with the audience as well. In stand-up comedy jokes, monologues, humorous stories and one-liners are recited. Of late India has produced stand-up comedians of national and international fame, who have used mediums like Youtube, Television, Online platforms, live performance and Stage shows. Every entertainment channel has at least a few comedy shows being aired on their channels,” said Sinha.

The credit for making stand-up comedy acts popular in India goes to Johnny Lever, who made people laugh with his unique style of performances, way back in the 1980s, and later became a film comedian.
