The latest report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi, indicates that temperatures are hovering below normal at many places, especially during the night.
Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 24.7°C, about 1.4°C below normal, while the minimum settled at 10.8°C, also lower than the seasonal average.
In Jamshedpur, the day remained relatively warm with a maximum of 28.0°C, but the minimum temperature dropped sharply to 10.6°C, nearly 4°C below normal, underlining the return of a strong nocturnal chill.

The temperature contrast across the state was evident in the extremes, with Chaibasa (PTO) recording the highest maximum temperature at 32.0°C, while Gumla AWS reported the lowest minimum temperature of just 5.0°C. Several other districts, including Khunti, Simdega and Lohardaga, also saw minimum temperatures remain in the single digits, adding to the winter-like feel.
Reduced visibility was reported at a few locations, with Jamshedpur experiencing the lowest visibility at 2,000 metres during the morning hours.
According to meteorologists, clear skies and dry north-westerly winds are contributing to the sharp fall in night temperatures.
