Coal-fueled power plants to generate more jobs: CS

Ranchi:The construction and operation of coal-fueled power plants in Jharkhand will bring in major benefits in terms of jobs creation and would lead to improvement in regional business.

Jharkhand Chief Secretary R S Sharma observed this today at a meeting with Energy Department on high power committee meeting of MOU at Project Building.

Detailed reports on Gagan Sponge Iron Limited, Adhunik Power & Natural Resource Limited, Divine Power and Mining Corporation Limited and Cosmic Energy Limited were presented during the meeting.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) also presented the opportunities in Jharkhand for natural gas infrastructure.

Chief Secretary directed the Divine Power and Mining Corporation Limited to carry out a preliminary study on the availability of coal and water for its power plant near Bokaro.

Chief Secretary asked for a comfort letter from water resources department for water availability for the proposed plant. Chief Secretary asked the OCL to spell out the details of the MOU it wants to have with the state.

Development Commissioner, AK Sarkar, Principal Secretary, Revenue and Land Reforms, JB Tubid, Principal Secretary, Mines and Geology Department, DK Tiwari, Principal Secretary, Energy Department, Vimal Kirti Singh, Principal Secretary, Forest Environment Department, Alka Tiwari, Secretary, Water Resources Department, Avinash Kumar, Secretary, Industry Department, Smt. Vandana Dadel, Secretary, Commercial Taxes, Mast Ram Meena alongwith other officials were also present in the meeting.
