Ranchi, March 6: Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Sunday said that cooperation of the people is necessary to achieve the ‘Clean India’ movement by 2019 – the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in 2019. The citizens of our state should show their commitment towards the campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“If we as a responsible citizen take a step towards the campaign, our Jharkhand will be clean. There should not be any hesitation regarding cleaning. Cleanliness should be spread everywhere,” Das said while addressing a gathering at a program organized by Shri Kalki Maanav Sewa Samiti at Bariatu on the occasion of the Nationwide Sanitation Drive in Ranchi.
Das said that sanitation can improve the economic conditions of the people. “If we live in a clean environment, we will be away from the diseases. This will help us to avoid the unwanted expenses on medications. The same applies in the context of the state.
So if our state is clean, the increasing graph of diseases will reduce automatically. This will help the government to save half of the amount allocated in the health budget and the money can be used in development schemes.”
Thanking all institutions involved in the campaign, Das said that more people should be connected with sanitation campaign. This aim can be achieved through public participation. He praised the efforts done by Shri Kalki Maanav Seva Samiti.
Das also launched the campaign at Bariatu road and appealed to the local residents to keep their surroundings neat and clean and maintain hygiene. After taking oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Das himself started the cleanliness campaign and appealed to the people to continue the same.
Hatia MLA Navin Jaiswal said that condition will change when we, the people, will change. Kanke MLA Dr. Jeetu Charan Ram made an appeal to the people to prepare themselves and motivate others for cleanliness.
