CM inaugurates Jharkhand Poshan Mission

Ranchi, Nov. 13: Inaugurating the Jharkhand Poshan Mission at hotel Chanakya B.N.R. here today, Chief Minister Mr. Raghubar Das said that his government will train as well as provide Rs. 1 lakh to tribal volunteer groups and seek their assistance in making the state malnutrition free.

He said that poshan sakhis will also be appointed on contract basis and the State government will focus on the health and hygiene of expectant women. According to Das, the government will consider providing eggs in the diet of school going children in the budget for 2016-17 fiscal and upgrade a few Aanganbadi kendras into model kendras every year under the CSR.

Emphasizing on development of human resources for a healthy and wealthy nation, the CM said that the formation of the Jharkhand Poshan Mission will help in making Jharkhand malnutrition free. He thanked the women, child development and social security department for their contribution in this regard. He sought the help of UNICEF and other voluntary institutions in curbing malnutrition in Jharkhand. Underlining the role of civil societies, he hoped that Jharkhand will be malnutrition free in the next 10 years.

Women, Child Development and Social Security minister Mrs. Louis Marandi said that a prosperous and powerful state can�t be achieved without nutrition. She informed that the government has signed an MOU with UNICEF for a malnutrition-free Jharkhand.

Principal Secretary to CM Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Principal Secretary, Health, Mr. K. Vidyasagar, Secretary to CM, Mr. Sunil Kr. Burnwal, Secretary, Drinking Water & Sanitation, Mr. A. P. Singh, Food Supply Secretary, Mr. Vinay Kr. Choubey and officers as well as representatives of UNICEF were present on this occasion.
