Jamshedpur: Chief Minister Raghubar Das inaugurated Baharagora Polytechnic College online from the campus of BIT Sindri, Dhanbad, on Tuesday.
Many dignitaries were present on the college campus to witness the inauguration. They included the MP of Jamshedpur Bidyut Baran Mahato, MLA of Baharagora Kunal Sarangi and Zila Parishad chairperson Bulu Rani Singh. The SDM of Ghatsila was also present along with the BDO and CO of Baharagora on the occasion.
Officials said the newly inaugurated polytechnic college at Baharagora College is affiliated to AICTE New Delhi and is recognized by the State Board of Technical Education, Jahrkhand.
The principal Dr Sanjay Kumar Mishra and the vice principal Anurag Kumar Jha said at present five trades are being offered to the students. A total of 274 students have got admission this year, they said.
The director of the college Malay Kumar Parhi requested the MP of Jamshedpur to open a gymnasium at the campus. He also requested for the appointment of a basketball coach for girls.
Many teachers and other intellectuals from Jamshedpur and Baharagora were present during the inaugural function. They wished the institute and its students success in their future endeavours.
A cultural programme was also organized in the college on the occasion of Teachers� Day.
The inaugural function was conducted by the CEO of the college DK Srivastava who also proposed a vote of thanks on the occasion.
Also present during the function, former state health minister and ex-legislator of Baharagora Dr Dinesh Sarangi said the opening of the college had made his old dream come true.
The foundation of the college was laid in the year 2004 by the then CM of Jharkhand Arjun Munda and Dr Dinesh Sarangi.
