Ranchi, Nov.9: Chief Minister Raghubar Das called a high level meeting with RBI and other bank officials here on Wednesday and directed them to complete all preparations so that people do not face any problem in withdrawing money from the banks tomorrow (Thursday).
At the meeting, it was decided that all banks should remain open till 8 pm. During this period, police officials will remain present in the banks. Separate counters will be made for deposition and withdrawal along with a separate help desk. All information related with deposition and withdrawal with the bank will be published, officials said.
“All senior and junior officers of the state will help the bank. The police will conduct patrolling around banks. The officers in-charge of all police stations will ensure security around the local branches of all banks in their respective areas,” officials said.
Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary Amit Khare said that the DCs, SPs and lead bank managers of all districts had been directed to follow the guidelines issued by the Government post demonetisation.
Khare said the Planning cum Finance Department will be reviewing the situation continuously. The DCs and SPs may contact Khare or the Planning cum Finance Department to seek guidance.
The RBI will run a control room with the assistant manager of RBI Amit Sinha as its nodal officer (telephone number 0651-2210517 and mobile number 9771348791). Every bank branch will arrange for a helpdesk and a bank staff will be deputed to inform all customers about the new currency notes, Khare said.
