CM gives consent for prosecution against IAS Chavi Ranjan

Ranchi, June 15: Chief Minister Raghubar Das has consented to prosecution against IAS Chavi Ranjan in connection with illegal felling of trees from Zila Parishad Dak Bangla premises at Markachho in Koderma in 2015.

Five teak and one seesam trees were cut without the order of any competent officer and put at the official residence of Chavi Ranjan, currently serving as the development commissioner of Dhanbad. Following investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Ranjan was found to be indulged in this activity.

An FIR (case No. 76/ 2015 on dated 25.12.2015) has been lodged against head constable Krishna Prasad. Verma, the then BDO Sandip Madhesia, Markachho, CI Jeevan Ram, computer operator Dinesh Turi, and other five-six persons are also named in the FIR.

After the investigation, Chavi Ranjan was made the non-FIR accused. Following the consent of the CM for prosecution, cases will be lodged against him under Section 409 of IPC, 1973, 120 (B), 201, 34, section 13 (2), Sahpathit Section 13 (1) (D) of Bhrastachar Niwaran Adhiniyam, 1988 and Section 41 and 42 of the Forest Act.
