CM directs officials to be prompt in disaster management

Ranchi, May 20: �Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Friday directed the officials to be prompt in disaster management and be equipped with latest technology and training. Associate youth in disaster management training, he said while reviewing Disaster Management Authority at Project Bhawan.

Das further said to install lightening arrestors in lightening affected areas first and gradually in the entire state.

During the meeting a proposal was approved to form a system to watch lightening and draught at panchayat level. CM asked the officials to install rain watch system in every panchayat. �

Das directed the officials to purchase hydraulic lifts for Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and Deoghar districts. He further asked the officials to modify the fire stations with latest technology and machines. CM insisted appointment of fire brigade drivers and purchase of new fire fighter vehicles.

During the meeting it was decided that a company will be formed to deal with disasters and natural calamity. It is also decided in the meeting that administrative offices will be made for state Disaster Management Authority and District Disaster Management Authorities.

CM directed the officials to train NCC cadets, school and college students in disaster management techniques. He further said that civil defense in every districts should comprise 100 volunteers. He asked the officials to establish emergency operation centre in each district.

During the meeting, decisions were taken to establish�Jharkhand Mining & Disaster Management Institute at Dhanbad and Jharkhand Industrial Management Institute at Jamshedpur. Formation of state disaster management and emergency operation centers was also approved in the meeting.

Ramchandra Chandrabanshi, Raj Bala Verma, chief secretary, Amit Khare, Development Commissioner, N. N. Pandey, additional chief secretary (Home), Sanjay Kumar, principal secretary to CM, Sunil Kumar Burnwal secretary to CM, along with other officials attended the meeting.
