CM bats for hassle-free cash withdrawals

Ranchi, Nov. 26: Chief Minister Raghubar Das presided over a high level meeting to benefit the workers and pensioners of unorganized sectors on Saturday.

Senior bureaucrats of the state, CMD of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and officers of Reserve Bank of India and other banks were also present at the meeting.

The meeting was convened with a view to make money withdrawal of workers, staff and pensioners easy and comfortable. The RBI officials assured the CM that there is no shortage of cash in the system.

Altogether eight major decisions were taken in the meeting and the RBI was told to maintain sufficient flow of cash in the state. Bank branches should be mapped for distribution of funds. Branches having salary accounts and pension accounts should be prioritized, the CM said.

The CM directed the bank officials concerned to open bank accounts of workers belonging to the unorganized sector through a special campaign. �Labour department and banks should coordinate and review the campaign�s progress daily. Inactive Rupay Cards should be activated at the earliest.

Electronic transactions should be preferred to promote cashless economy in the state. E-pass, mobile banking and UPI should be promoted.

The Chamber of Commerce will also be appealed to promote electronic transaction and inspire people to do so. The banks have been advised to take the services of retired bank employees especially in colliery areas where there is shortage of staff,� he said.

The CM further said that separate queues should be allowed for pensioners in banks. A secretary level officer will camp and monitor four main areas namely Jamshedpur-Adityapur, Dhanbad-Bokaro, Hazaribagh-Ramgarh and Amrapali areas from 29th November. Ample security will be arranged in the banks. It should be promoted through radio, Doordarshan and other media, said the CM.

Das appealed people to withdraw money as per their requirement.

Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma, Additional Chief Secretary Finance and Planning Amit Khare, Principal Secretary to the CM Sanjay Kumar, Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal, CCL CMD Gopal Singh, Additional GM of Reserve Bank Amit Sinha, LSBC GM Sudipto Kumar Mukherjee, Bank of India GM Prasad Joshi, deputy GM of SBI DK Panda and other officers were present in the meeting.
