CM asks NTPC to ensure timely construction of power plants in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Feb. 7 : Chief Minister Raghubar Das today directed National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) authorities to complete the construction of Patratu and North Karanpura power plants in time to ensure that the power production from these plants commences shortly.

In a meeting between the senior officials of the NTPC and the Jharkhand Government at the project building here, Das said that meetings should be held at frequent intervals for establishing coordination. During the meeting, the progress in launch of first phase of Patratu plant and issues related to North Karanpur project were taken up. Besides, the works being done by the company under its CSR head and community development programme was also discussed at the meeting.

The CM said the state government was working hard to make Jharkhand a power hub. He directed the company officials concerned to ensure that all households in the state are lit up by Deepawali this year. He said 15 new power stations have now become functional while work for construction of another 247 power stations was on.

Das said the old cables and transformers are being changed while use of solar power was also being encouraged in the state. He asked NTPC officials to show commitment in completing its pending power projects in the state.

The meeting was also attended by chief secretary Rajbala Verma, CMD NTPC Gurdip Singh and other senior officials of the state government and the NTPC.
