Ranchi: The state government officials need to spread a largescale awareness among the people to prevent malnutrition and its incidence in the state. This was observed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren during a meeting of the state nutrition council held at Project Building on Wednesday.

In his address, the CM said the problem of malnutrition among children should be taken lightly. He said everyone including government officials and the people should take the problem seriously and play their role in mitigating the efforts of malnutrition. He said the government departments should seriously implement various government programmes aimed at eliminating malnutrition.

Soren said all anganbari centres should play their role in preventing malnutrition in children. The anganbari workers should work sincerely and honestly so that the target of the government could be achieved, he said.

The state social welfare minister Annapurna Devi was also present during the meeting. She said the Jeevan Asha programme was successful at community level. She suggested that documentary films and streetcorner plays could prove more useful and effective in spreading public awareness regarding malnutrition and its hazards.
