Cyclone ‘Ditva’ forms over Bay of Bengal

Ranchi / Jamshedpur, Nov 27: The formation of a new cyclonic system — Cyclone ‘Ditva’ — over the Bay of Bengal is set to influence weather patterns across several parts of the country.
While the system is expected to bring heavy rainfall to South India, including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and coastal regions, experts confirm that Jharkhand will experience only marginal weather changes.
According to early assessments, the impact on Jharkhand will be indirect and significantly weaker compared to southern states.
Districts such as Dhanbad, East Singhbhum, and adjoining eastern and southeastern regions may witness light showers or isolated drizzles, but widespread rainfall is not anticipated.
Most areas in the state are likely to remain cloudy with a drop in daytime temperatures.
This comes as cricket fans turn their attention to the India vs South Africa ODI scheduled at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on November 30, Sunday.
The good news: the match is unlikely to be affected by rain.
Meteorologists indicate that while the outer cloud bands of Cyclone Ditva may drift over Jharkhand, the system is expected to remain too far away to trigger significant precipitation in Ranchi.
As a result, the ODI match is forecast to be played under overcast but dry conditions, with comfortable weather for players and spectators.
Meanwhile, authorities have issued marine warnings for fishermen along the southern and eastern coasts, advising them not to venture into the sea till conditions stabilize.
With the cyclone’s core movement directed toward the southeastern coastline, Jharkhand escapes major weather disturbances, ensuring that the much-awaited Ranchi ODI proceeds as scheduled — with clouds overhead but no rain delays expected.
