Jamshedpur, Feb 27: The civic landscape of Jamshedpur witnessed decisive outcomes as voters delivered clear mandates in key urban bodies during the Municipal General Elections 2026.
In the Jugsalai Municipal Council polls, Nausheen Khan, wife of Jharkhand State Minority Commission chairman Hidayatullah Khan, emerged victorious with a margin of 720 votes over BJP-backed candidate Rinku Singh, signaling a significant political shift in the area.
According to the final count, Nausheen Khan secured 11,563 votes, while Rinku Singh polled 10,843 votes. Among other contestants, Dolly Malik received 895 votes, Balbir Kaur 548, Nilufar Hussain 212, Musarrat Khatoon 184, Indu Devi 179, and Jaspreet Kaur 93 votes. The declaration of results sparked celebrations among Khan’s supporters, with political observers noting that the outcome may reshape local equations within the civic body.
Mango Municipal Corporation :Sudha Gupta Establishes Dominant Lead
In the closely watched mayoral contest of the Mango Municipal Corporation, Sudha Gupta wife of Congress leader and former minister Banna Gupta established a commanding position after the third round of counting.
She garnered an impressive 33,047 votes, building a massive lead of 17,364 votes over her nearest rival, Sandhya Singh, who secured 15,683 votes.
Other candidates in the fray included Shaista Parveen alias Jeba Khan with 9,546 votes, Banita Sahay with 1,289 votes, Kumkum Srivastava with 1,413 votes, Indira Sundi with 779 votes, Raimuni Sundi with 818 votes, Lakki Singh with 569 votes, Sushila Singh with 2,879 votes, Jeva Kadri with 2,425 votes, Parvati Devi with 442 votes, Pratibha Rani with 438 votes, and Sonamuni Soren with 457 votes.
With the trends strongly favoring Gupta, her victory appears all but certain, reinforcing her political standing in Mango’s urban governance.

In the Chakulia Nagar Panchayat, the chairperson’s contest concluded with Somwari Soren backed by JMM securing 3,445 votes, emerging ahead of her competitors.
Chandana Murmu followed with 2,718 votes, while Sandhya Rani Sardar polled 2,119 votes and Shilavati Tudu received 260 votes.
The results across Jugsalai, Mango, and Chakulia reflect dynamic political undercurrents and heightened civic participation with NDA- backed candidates facing defeat.
With new leadership set to assume office, expectations are high for accelerated urban development, improved civic infrastructure, and responsive local governance in the coming term.
