After further inquiry, we came to know that Birendra Das was the person who was in touch with the Maoist leader. When Virendra got wind of the ongoing police investigation, he threw his mobile phone in river Kuju. He was ultimately caught with the help of the technical cell of police department.

During interrogation, he has spilled the beans and told us how he was once taken to a Maoist camp in Jeteya forests by Shankar Sirka, one of the Maoist leaders,” said the DSP.

Virendra Das claimed before police that the Maoists had threatened to kill his family members in case he refused to work for them and pass vital information regarding the arrival, stay and movement of VIP guests of the Circuit House.
