CII organises workshop on divergent thinking

Jamshedpur, Feb. 2: CII Jharkhand organised a workshop on Divergent Thinking today at CFE in Jamshedpur. The workshop was designed to create a mind-set of divergent thinking which allows participants to generate creative ideas by exploring many possible solutions.

The focus throughout was to stay on the problem rather than going into solution. The workshop focused on a spontaneous, fluid, non-linear mental approach based on curiosity and nonconformity. Through numerous ideations, the participants generated multiple creative solutions to the same problem.

During the workshop, many possible solutions were explored and unexpected connections were drawn. The workshop allowed the participants to reimagine, rethink, redesign and recreate a learning experience which is transformational for the organization and encouraged them to shift the paradigm while designing a learning & development strategy with inclusivity as a focus area.

The workshop was conducted by Tanuja Abburi, Founder & CEO, Beyond Pinks and Partner, Humanomics Studios. With over 20 years of experience in Human Resources, Abburi has held various leadership positions with reputed organisations like NTT Data, Bank of America, GE and D.E. Shaw in India and the US. She is an expert in people practices and extremely passionate and focused on strategy, execution, sustainability & effectiveness of people, process and performance.

During his address at the inaugural session, Rajender Sachdeva, Vice Chairman, CII Jamshedpur Zonal Council & Managing Director, Industrial Forge & Engineering Co Ltd stated that having the right mindset is important for succeeding in business and in life. Do not limit your thinking. Dont limit your dreams or goals. Limited thinking leads to limited ideas, which stunt growth and performance, said Sachdev.

Vishal Agarwalla, Convenor, CII Jharkhand Startup Panel & Director Company Development, CTC (India) Pvt Ltd said that one needs to stay positive, even when setbacks arise. This is key to moving forward and pushing through. A positive mindset can help turn a bad situation into a good one in a much shorter period of time, and with better end results. Its the process of making something good out of something bad.

Krishna Kumar Kharia, Co-Convenor, CII Jharkhand MSME Panel & Director, Multitech Components P Ltd stated that todays business environment is unyielding and fast-paced and falling behind is not an option. This demanding and shifting business environment requires a change in how leaders think and act. While change isnt easy, and it may be a painful proposition for a leader who has been running a successful business, the biggest threat is a leader wedded to past successes and traditional thinking.

Old ways will no longer work. The workshop was also addressed by Divya Taneja, Member – CII Jharkhand Startup Panel & Director, Apex Corporation India Pvt Ltd; Ankit Agarwal of Admybin (Newage Clean Solutions Pvt Ltd) and Nikhil Chougale of Enrecover.
