CII IWN, TSF organises session on �Unseen leadership of women against COVID- 19′

Jamshedpur, Sept. 19: Confederation of Indian Industry-Indian Women Network (CII-IWN) Jharkhand Chapter in association with Tata Steel Foundation organised a virtual session on �The Unseen Leadership of Women Against COVID- 19�. This was the maiden session under the aegis�of Kaleidoscope, which is a unique initiative undertaken by CII-IWN Jharkhand Chapter and Tata Steel Foundation.

Kaleidoscope is a series of five webinars which looks to weave beautiful patterns between the apparently disconnected worlds and contexts of women from deep rural hinterlands of India and women professionals and entrepreneurs who are setting benchmarks in urban and peri-urban contexts.

During today�s session, Babita Mahato, Sahiyya from Bhalukpahadi Panchayat, Seraikela Kharsawan, Jharkhand, Geeta Nagar, Survivor Leader from Jhansi District, Uttar Pradesh and Rashmaita Patra, Sarpanch, Benupur Panchayat, Odisha shared their stories and experiences in countering the pandemic. The session was moderated by Sriparna Ganguly, independent consultant.

 Speaking about the panellists, Swastika Basu, chairperson, CII-IWN  Jharkhand Chapter and chief-enterprise risk management, Tata Steel Limited welcomed the panellists and participants and stated, “We commend the outstanding spirit of these extraordinary women, who have not only demonstrated courage and resilience in their lives but who also rose to the occasion during the pandemic and contributed immensely.”

Sourav Roy, convenor, CII Jharkhand CSR & Skill Development Panel & chief-corporate social responsibility, Tata Steel Limited opined  ”Aspiring towards a transformative world where every woman realises her potential, Kaleidoscope, co-hosted by CII-Indian Women Network Jharkhand Chapter & Tata Steel Foundation is an effort to unearth unseen commonalities of successes and challenges experienced by women from both rural and urban set-ups. We hope that this endeavour will bring to the forefront stories of inspiration, reveal diverse perspectives, thereby allowing for a spirit of oneness.”

The objective of Kaleidoscope is to bring forth stories of outstanding agency for women from difficult and unseen contexts away from Urban India. It aims at enabling a mutual appreciation of contexts between two very different groups of women which can lead to powerful self-reflection and thus sparking meaningful and lasting conversations between CII-IWN members and women from rural India. Over 70 delegates participated in the session.
