Chinmaya students underline Gitas relevance through generations

Jamshedpur: The relevance of scriptures like Shri Ram Charitra Manas, Srimad Bhagawat Gita or the Upanishads written thousands of years ago have withstood the tests of time and the Slokas, Mantras and Quartets composed find meaning in our lives. It is important to learn their meaning, observed B Chandrashekhar, president of Chinmaya Vidyalay in South Park, Bistupur, while inaugurating the Gita Chanting contest in the school complex.

Students of classes 1 to 10 participated in the Gita Chanting competition based on memorized rendition of songs from the Holy Scripture.

The school vice president, Surendra Nath said, Singing memorized portions of the scriptures and finding out their meaning, when translated into living life, ensures long term results. This amalgamation of knowledge enables a person to meet struggles squarely with confidence and inner strength of conviction.

School principal Mikki Singh stated, Chinmaya Vidyalay, South Park, treads the path shown by Guru Chinmayanand and this continues to ensure qualitative education along with opening their eyes and minds to the rich culture and traditions as stated in the scriptures.

The program was conducted by the schools music teacher T Ishwar Rao. He welcomed the judges and guests and offered his best wishes to the contestants.
The three day competition concluded today.
