Chinks in BJP Kolhan armory coming to the fore

Sadhu Charan Mahto to helm parallel committee

Mail News Service

Saraikela, Sept 4: No sooner had the list of the district BJP executive committee been announced, the party has been cast in the throes of imbroglio with dissent of dedicated members, leaders and former district executives who have felt let down and humiliated by, what they termed, neglect of their credentials during formation of the Saraikela-Kharsawan district body. The disgruntled BJP members have decided to form a parallel district body to be helmed by the experienced and former legislator Sadhu Charan Mahto. The chinks in the BJP armory have begun to show and the dissidents are building up a huge number in their ranks. With the resignation of Zila Parishad president Shakuntala Mahali from the post of BJP district vice president on Wednesday, the disgruntled and ignored former district executives have openly come out to expose groups and coteries in the ranks and files of the party in the district.

These BJP members today held a media meeting in former Ichagarh BJP MLA Sadhu Charan Mahtos house today dubbing the newly formed district body a pocket committee.

Sadhu Charan Mahto alleged, The current committee has been formed overlooking the credentials of active, dedicated and experienced members and former party executives of the districts three Assembly constituencies in spite of discussions and agreements on certain candidates prior to the formation of the district committee. All these agreements on candidates were put on the backburner while this pocket committee was formed. Those selected to the top posts are known to have acted against the interests of the party which is not a good indication and if this state of affairs persists the next Assembly elections in 2024 may result in heavy losses for the BJP.

Attempts to tarnish image of Arjun Munda

The disgruntled BJP leaders whose claims had been overlooked have decided to form a parallel district committee to be headed by former MLA Sadhu Charan Mahto. Mahto said on the occasion, The objective of forming this new pocket committee is to tarnish the image of central Minister Arjun Munda and the dedicated BJP members will never allow this to happen. He has once again appealed to the party high command to divest such members who have indulged in anti party activities during the last assembly elections from the posts they have been appointed to.

Step brotherly behaviour with erstwhile JVM members

The new committee makers have been accused of meting out step brotherly treatment to those members of erstwhile JVM after the party merged with BJP. Former JVM district president Shambhu Mandal rued that while the new committee was formed none of the former JVM executives had found a place in the committee of executives that was formed a couple of days earlier. He said, The senior BJP leaders have been deliberately overlooked. As far as the former JVM leaders are considered, they have been meted out step brotherly treatment openly.  Ignoring the legitimacy of the claims may cost the organization very dear.

Among those present in the press meet were former district general secretary Ganesh Mahali, Adityapur Municipal Corporation Deputy mayor Amit Singh and former Mandal president Krishna Murari Jha.
