Jamshedpur, May 10: A disturbing case of alleged violence against an eight-year-old child has come to light from the Bistupur police station area, where a domestic dispute reportedly escalated into a horrifying act of brutality.
The accused allegedly assaulted the minor and forcibly made him consume a battery chemical in an apparent attempt to harm him.
The incident was reported near Tulsi Bhavan under Bistupur police station area. Anita Devi, a resident of Ashok Path in Bhatia Basti, Kadma, has lodged an FIR in connection with the case.
In her complaint, Anita Devi named five individuals as accused — Mamta Rai, Rajesh Kumar Rai, Mithun Thakur, Kavita Das Rai, and Aryan Gupta, all reportedly residents of Manpara, Guwahati, Assam.
According to the complaint, the incident involving her eight-year-old grandson, Inshat Vishwakarma, took place between April 19 and April 24.
She alleged that the accused subjected the child to physical abuse and, with intent to cause serious harm, forcibly administered a chemical substance commonly used in batteries.
The child’s health reportedly deteriorated after the incident, leaving the family deeply distressed and living under fear. Anita Devi also alleged that when the family protested, they were threatened with dire consequences.
Police said the matter was formally reported on May 9, following which an investigation was launched. Authorities are now trying to ascertain the exact nature of the chemical allegedly given to the child and are examining the role of each accused in the case.
Considering the seriousness of the allegations, police have intensified their probe into the incident.
