Child Commission reviews child safety in Ghatsila and Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: A four-member team of the Jharkhand State Child Commission, comprising Ruchi Kujur, Vikas Dodrajka, Minhajul Haque, and Dr. Abha Virend Ankichan, reviewed the state of child safety and welfare in Ghatsila subdivision and Jamshedpur during its two-day visit to the Kolhan Division.

On the second day of the visit, the team held a review meeting at the Ghatsila Sub-Divisional Office under the chairmanship of Circle Officer Nishat Ambar. Officials and representatives from multiple child-related departments and welfare agencies attended, including Planning Officer Chetan Sharma, Food Safety Officer Sanjay Kumar, Sub-Inspector of Ghatsila Police Station Pankaj Kalindi, Mining Inspector Arbind Uraav, Medical Officers Dr. Majendra and Dr. R.N. Soren, and representatives from the Education Department, JSLPS, and Anganwadi services.

The Commission members assessed the facilities being provided to children in the subdivision, heard concerns raised by field officials, and noted the gaps in welfare measures. They directed the officers present to ensure timely resolution of issues, particularly in areas of health, education, and protection of vulnerable children.

Later in the afternoon, a second meeting was convened at the Circuit House in Jamshedpur, where stakeholders and district-level officials were present. Attendees included Labor Superintendent Satendra Kumar Singh, District Child Protection Officer Prem Prakash, Child Protection Unit officials Amrita Kumari and M. Ravi Shastri, Medical Officer Dr. Mo Asad, CWC member Jujhar Soren, and representatives from NGOs working in the field of child rights.

The Commission took stock of the situation from all departments and organizations, reviewing the effectiveness of existing schemes and support mechanisms for children. Specific problems flagged by the officials and NGOs were recorded, and instructions were issued for their resolution.

The team assured stakeholders that recommendations would be forwarded to senior state-level officials, particularly concerning gaps that require intervention from higher authorities.
