Ranchi, Jul 28: Jharkhand Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma today directed all the civil surgeons of the state to make sure that the doctors and para medical staff are present in the hospitals and health centers or else they would be held responsible for the absentees. She said that better health services are parameter of development and the government wants health services to reach all the people of the state. She directed the health department to ensure emergency service to a casualty round the clock.
Verma said that spread of diseases like Kala-azar in Dumka, Godda, Pakur and Sahibganj districts of Santhal Pargana must be uprooted. Work should be done in mission mode. Since rural areas lack health awareness, hence villagers should be informed about how to keep away from such deadly diseases. Moreover, the patients of kala-azar should be provided medical treatment and medical assistance of Rs. 6,000. The CS told the officers that mud house walls remaining constantly in darkness play as heaven of Kala-azar micro-organisms. Hence, insecticides should be sprayed at certain intervals without least slackness.
The CS said that 63,80,000 mosquito nets provided by World Bank to check malaria will be distributed from August. The department should ensure its distribution and observe it. The saying prevention is better than cure is applicable in this context.
The CS said to run a door-to-door campaign to make TB patients aware about regular use of medicines. Community volunteers should be trained and bulgum samples of the people having more than 2 weeks of cough should be collected for test at block level.
Additional CS, Health Sudhir Tripathi and NRHM Director were present in the meeting.
