Chief secretary directs completion of boring, tube well installation on SOS basis

Ranchi, May 19: Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma directed all executive engineers of Drinking Water & Sanitation Department to complete all new tube well installation by June 10. She was chairing a review meeting of the Department at Project Bhawan on Thursday.

She directed the concerned officials to do this work in mission mode and engage the work force of Swachh Bharat Mission in platform making and boring work to get the work done in speed. She asked to take extra help from other government employees also. Verma also directed to make soak pit just to have soil conservation.

During review Raj Bala Verma asked the department officials to prepare plans at every level so that in next summer people should not face the water crisis. She asked the concerned officials to identify the tube wells after monsoon which are not in condition and repair it in between December and January.

The chief secretary directed to identify the dense panchayats not having adequate tube wells/ other water resources resulting in acute water crisis. She further said that another review meeting will be called on May 31 to monitor the districts where work progress is slow.

During the review meeting A. P. Singh principal secretary of Drinking Water & Sanitation Department, informed the chief secretary that 394 mega pipe water supply projects have been taken up for execution, work is in progress with 88 pipeline water supply projects, in which 50 such projects will be completed by December 2016.

Singh said along with this mega pipe line water supply project 2295 small pipelines water supply projects are being managed by the department in which maximum are solar based, he further narrated that with these project 2769 micro projects are in progress, which will be completed by December, along with this DPR for 38 mega projects are being prepared. 500 DPR will also be prepared for 500 ODF panchayats.

It was decided in the review meeting to convert 25 blocks into ODF blocks by October 2, direction in this regard should be sent to all districts, and by the end of year 75 blocks and 5 districts will be motivated for ODF so that maximum toilets can be made in those areas.
