Jamshedpur: In the ongoing fourth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections, Chief Minister Champai Soren exercised his democratic right by casting his ballot at a polling booth in Jilingora, Seraikela -Kharsawan district on Monday. Following his vote, Champai Soren urged citizens to actively participate in the electoral process.
The Chief Minister cast his vote at Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya in Jilinggora, specifically at polling booth number 220.
Voting commenced at 7 a.m. amidst stringent security measures across four Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, namely Singhbhum, Lohardaga, Khunti, and Palamu. The polling will continue until 5 p.m.
Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar reported that a total of 64.37 lakh voters are expected to partake in the first phase of voting in the state. To facilitate this process, 7,595 polling booths have been established, with 30,380 polling personnel deployed. Webcasting is being monitored at all booths, complemented by the installation of 15,000 4D cameras.
The Election Commission’s data reveals that Singhbhum has 14 candidates, Khunti has 7, Palamu has 9, and Lohardaga has 15 candidates vying for victory. Notably, in Khunti, the electoral battle features Central Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Arjun Munda facing off against opposition alliance ‘INDIA’ candidate Kalicharan Munda.
Aside from Jharkhand, the fourth phase witnesses voting across multiple states, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and one seat in Jammu and Kashmir.
