Speaking about the organization, he said, “CHIC was started with an objective of creating a combined diagnostic, educational and parental guidance facility for children (3 years of age and above) with impaired hearing. It is a pre-primary education centre that imparts free education, providing children with the opportunity of enrolment into mainstream schools. The central mission of the institution is to eradicate deafness with early detection and treatment. In 15 years, 335 children have joined the organization, he said, adding that more than 200 children have got admission in different schools. The differently-abled children are given speech therapy, auditory verbal therapy and counseling besides other facilities.”

Dr Birua further informed, “The faculty at CHIC is dedicated professionals, which include trained teachers, an audiologist and a speech therapist. CHIC intends to aid and support hearing impaired children in Jamshedpur and its surrounding areas, providing them with an opportunity of being integrated with the larger society with normal hearing.”
