Chess festival from May 6 at JRD sports complex

Jamshedpur : The Stage is all set for chess festival in the steel city with players from across Jharkhand to outsmart each other in battles across the table. All Jharkhand Chess Association (AJCA) will organise the festival at the eastern wing of JRD Tata Sports Complex from May 6 to 15.

“The stage is all set and we are looking forward for some interesting sessions of Chess. We expect good participation in the chess festival as performance in the state meet in the under-7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 age groups will be the yardstick for selection of players in the Jharkhand� outfit for national meets,” said AJCA secretary Pritam Singh.

The tournament will be conducted as per FIDE laws over 5 rounds. Cash prizes and trophies for the top six contestants in each age sections. Last date of entry is May 5 before 5 pm. Interested players can contact Jayant Kumar Bhuyam at eastern centre of JRD Tata Sports Complex (from 4.30 to 6 pm) for registrations.

The fee structure is as follows entry fee is Rs 250 for rated and Rs 300 for unrated players. Age verification will be done as per the guidel;ines of All India Chess Federation.
