Champai Soren inaugurates Vikas Mela

Seraikela: A Vikas Mela (development fair) was organized under the state foundation day anniversary fortnight programme at the Birsa Munda Stadium in Seraikela on Saturday. The chief guest of the programme was the state transport-cum-tribal welfare minister Champai Soren.

In his address, Soren said the state government was running many development and welfare programmes. The purpose of the welfare schemes is to provide maximum benefit to the people, especially those belonging to the downtrodden strata of the society, he said.

The minister said the benefits of the schemes will soon reach the people. The government wants to ensure direct and indirect benefit of the schemes to the people, he said.

Soren said the government was working and planning to involve the panchayat level public representatives in an increasing manner. He said there was no dearth of resources in the state. He said only strong will could lead to success.

Earlier in the programme, Chhau artists presented many captivating dance items before the audience and accompanied the minister to the stalls put up at the fair.

Soren inaugurated the stall exhibiting and selling agricultural products. He gave appointment letters to the dependents of the two people killed in Naxalite violence.

The education department too, gave appointment letters to nine teachers and five junior engineers. The social welfare department gave selection letter to two anganbari and sahayika.
