Chamber writes to Gadkari for NH repair and four lane project

Jamshedpur: Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry has written to Union Minister for Road Transport, Highway and Shipping Nitin Gadkari to draw his attention to the pathetic condition of National Highway 32 and 33 and demand measures to ensure early completion of the four lane project on these highways.

The Chamber president Suresh Sonthalia, apprising the minister, said, The four lane project has run into the forest clearance and land acquisition hurdles, forcing the contractor to abandon the project. We would request you to look into the matter and get the work completed expeditiously.

Sonthalia said the Chamber members had sat on hunger strike on the NH 33 demanding its repair. The highway was made motorable for sometime. But again the situation has started worsening, he said.

The highway can hardly withstand the monsoon showers. If the rains continue for another few days, the highway will soon be in shambles like never before. The highway needs to be repaired and widened as soon as possible, said Sonthalia.

Chamber members have asked the minister to ensure early repair of the highway in the larger interest of the business community of Jharkhand including Jharkhand.

They said the highways should be kept in good condition to boost the commerce and industry in the state as well as in the region.
