Jamshedpur, June 21: There is a proposal to increase the electricity rate of Tata Steel in the urban areas of Jamshedpur.
Tata Steel in Jamshedpur’s Tata Command Area and Tata Steel UISL (formerly Jusco) in Seraikela have got electricity distribution license. The proposal to increase the power tariff was given by Tata Steel and Tata Steel UISL in February.
On July 7 (Friday), a public hearing will be held by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission in the auditorium of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industries at 10.30 am and at Adityapur Auto Cluster at 3.30 pm.
It is not appropriate to increase the electricity rate, It is noteworthy that the existing rates of electricity are applicable from December 2022.
In such a situation, in view of the possibility of increase for the second time after six months, this increase is being opposed by the traders.
In view of which the notice related to the holding of public hearing on July 7 has been issued by the Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
In this regard, Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Vijay Anand Moonka said that in December 2022, the electricity rate was increased by Tata Steel UISL. Then it is not appropriate to increase the electricity rate for the second time in six months. There is a lot of resentment among the traders regarding this.
He further said that this will increase the economic burden on traders and common people.
