Chaibasa, Oct 20: Basanti Kumari from West Singhbhum secured a silver medal in the 10000 meters event at the 3rd Under 23 National Athletics Championship held in Chandigarh.
Basanti , who had previously represented India at the World University Games in China, continues to make waves in the world of athletics.
Support for Basanti’s journey came from Mukund Rungta, the head of SR Rungta Group , who provided financial assistance for her dietary and kit needs
Upcoming on the horizon is the 5000-meter race on October 22nd, where Basanti aims to replicate her past success. Last year, she clinched the gold medal in the same category, and hopes are high for another victory this year.
The achievement of Basanti has been lauded by key figures in the District Athletics Association, including Chief Patron Minister Joba Majhi, District Olympic Association Patron MLA Deepak Birua, District Sports Officer Rupa Rani Tirkey, and Patron Mukund Rungta
