CGPC demands early release of prisoners from jails

Jamshedpur : A delegation of Central Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee ( CGPC) today handed over a memorandum, addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to the DC , demanding the release of Sikh prisoners who had completed their sentence.

The delegation also supported the hunger strike of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh, who demands release of seven Sikh prisoners held in jails Gurbaksh is on hunger strike from several months.

“Government of India is not adhering to the demands of minorities. Can Indian home minister justify the reason why Sikhs are made to perish in jails, when there punishment term has been already exhausted,” said Singh.

Several Sikh organisations across India have protested against the rigid stand of government.

They said around half a dozen Sikh youths were lodged in various jails of Punjab, Chandigarh and other states.

They said these youth have completed their conviction term but the government was not taking any step for their release.
