CEO’s discuss role and future of HR at CII Conference

Jamshedpur, July 26: Top corporate, Students of leading business school of the country and HR professionals from some of the leading companies of the country were in Steel city on Saturday to participate in the HR Conclave organized by CII Jamshedpur.

The program focused on the expectations of the CEOs, current trends and HR best practices. The conference offered a unique landscape for future leaders and helped find solutions and pave the way ahead. The program kicked off with a welcome address by Suresh Dutt Tripathi, VPHRM, Tata Steel.

Chief Guest on the occasion TV Narendran , MD Tata Steel said workers are the our most important asset. He was of the view that if HR is not embedded in the organization, it is not successful. It needs to be visible. It needs to understand the business better in order to bring greater value to the table. The conference was divided into four sessions were the first session focused on the role and future of HR which was discussed by the CEO’s of the company.

GK Pillai MD & CEO of Walchandnagar Industries LTD stated, if HR wants to be more valuable to the business they need to map out HR organization strategy to the business strategy. Pillai further said that HR as a function needs to prove its value by creating a more productive, results-oriented workforce, maintain right organizational culture while simultaneously reducing operating expenses.

Sangeeta Lall, Senior Partner transearch India said the dominant trend which is potentially reshaping the role of the HR function in the corporate world is that it relates to the rapid growth of the knowledge economy.

In this environment, a committed, appropriately skilled and prudently deployed workforce is critical in order to develop new products and outstrip the competition.At the event Dr. Jittu Singh from XLRI, Pramod Mahatme from Wipro, students from top business schools and others were present.
