Central team inspects health centres in Jamshedpur as corona cases rise

Jamshedpur, Sept. 7: With spurt in Cornonavirus positive cases in the East Singhbhum district, a three-member Centre health department team inspected health hubs in the city on Monday afternoon. The district has crossed 8,000 positive cases within a span of four months.

The Centre health team that included a lady doctor went out for inspection of various health centres for inspecting the kind of treatment COVID-infected people are getting. �

Led by Dr Amarendra Mohapatra, head of the department, Preventive & Social Medicines,  SCB Medical College, Cuttack, took a close note of the services being provided to the COVID-19 related treatment and examination.

East Singhbhum district civil surgeon, Rajendra Nath Jha said the team was accompanied by district nodal officer, Dr Sahir Paul and district surveillance officer, Dr AK Lal beside himself during the inspection by the Centre team.

During a two-day stay here in Jamshedpur, the team will also inspect the integrated disease surveillance programme (IDSP) office at Sakchi and a few containment zones for inspecting the COVID control measures adopted by the district administration.  

As per the schedule the team will hold a meeting with the district administrative officials, especially with the district health officials on Tuesday, when it would discuss on ways to control the spread of Coronavirus and also the deaths taking place for the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, the district health department has pledged to carry out as many as 40,000 tests for COVID in the next four days from Tuesday.

The district administration will further focus on the measures of maintaining social distancing and wearing of masks in such areas so that spread of Coronavirus from the hotbeds can be curbed effectively.

The team will also hold separate meetings with the various health hubs having COVID wards as well as the IDSP, East Singhbhum so as to give guidelines on how to treat the serious COVID patients and also to check the spread of the deadly virus.

Apart from the doctors engaged under IDSP and health hubs, the Centre team will also interact with the nurses as well as the paramedics and also with the frontline health workers during its stay in the steel city.

Notably, most of the Covid cases are coming from the localities that are overpopulated like Jugsalai Sakchi, Mango, Azadnagar and Bagbera.

Significantly,  concerned over the rising cases of the COVID-19,  the deputy commissioner, Suraj Kumar has started moving around the marketplaces in the city and is thwarting away those who are found eating at roadside vendors.
