Seraikela: A team of district administration officials led by SDO Sandeep Dubey and SDPO Avinash Kumar conducted a raid at Seraikela Jail here on Thursday and recovered two mobile phones and marijuana from the cells. The raid continued for two hours. The raid team recovered a SIM, a knife, four ganja cases and four packets of marijuana from the possession of the inmates. The SDO entered the jail premises with the SDPO and other officers around 4.30 am. All wards of the jail were searched simultaneously.
The SDPO said it was a routine raid. He said such surprise raids ensured smooth functioning of the jail. A total of 75 police officers were present during the raid.
