Celebrating World Urdu Day with elegance: Mushaira on boats at Dimna Lake

Jamshedpur: Continuing the tradition, the celebration of World Urdu Day on November 9 unfolded with grace at Dimna Lake in Jamshedpur. The event, aptly named ‘Jheel Mein Adab,’ was organized on two boats of Dimna Lake under the auspices of the Urban Services Foundation. Renowned poet Anwar Adeeb Neki presided over the program, with distinguished Hindi storyteller Jaynandan gracing the occasion as the chief guest.

In recognition of his literary contributions, Hindi and Urdu story writer Dr. Akhtar Azad was honored during the program. Following the tribute, a Mushaira, an Urdu poetry symposium, took place right on the lake. Poets showcased their ghazals, adding a poetic touch to the serene surroundings. Notable poets who presented their works included Prof. Ahmed Badr, Gauhar Aziz, Sheela Kumari, Waliullah Wali, Saddam Ghani, Safiullah Safi, Farhan Khan Farhan, Shoaib Akhtar, and Sarfaraz Shad.

Dr. Hasan Imam Malik, the Convener of the program and Sports Manager at Tata Steel, expressed gratitude to the Urban Services Federation, Jamshedpur, for organizing the unique celebration. He also thanked individuals like Jiren Topno (Head, Urban Services Foundation, Tata Steel), Gurubari Hembram (Manager, Urban Services Foundation), Hina (Manager, Urban Services Foundation), and Hemant Gupta (Head Adventurer) for their contributions. Dr. Malik highlighted the distinctive style in which World Urdu Day was celebrated and thanked all the poets for their cooperation, emphasizing that such a unique program would not have been possible without their support.
