CBSE schools introduce “Safal” examination for student assessment

Jamshedpur, Feb 10: CBSE schools, including those in Jamshedpur, are set to implement a pilot project called “Safal” (Structured Assessment for Analyzing Learning Levels) to assess the intellectual development of students. The examination will be conducted for students in the 3rd, 5th, and 8th grades. The objective of Safal is not only to evaluate the intellectual growth of children but also to enhance innovation in the teaching-learning process.

This initiative aligns with the changes introduced in school education under the new education policy. CBSE has issued a notice instructing schools to register on the Safal portal to participate in this examination. Schools in Jamshedpur have until February 20th to complete the registration process.

The Safal examination is designed to go beyond the regular syllabus, assessing children’s understanding and overall development. Importantly, the exam will not be based on class syllabus content. Meena Wilkhu, Principal of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, explained that the Safal exam aims to evaluate children’s development without relying on rote learning, identifying potential shortcomings in the teaching-learning processes within schools.

The ultimate goal is to enhance educational activities and teaching methodologies through innovation, guiding students away from rote learning and fostering a path of simple intellectual development.
