Cash and mobile phones worth over Rs 21 lakh stolen from Samsung showroom

Jamshedpur : Burglars decamped with cash and cell-phones worth over Rs 21 lakh from an exclusive showroom of a leading cell-phone company on Dimna Road under Mango police station area in the wee hours today.

The burglary was committed at an area which was under the flood-light a high-mast light.� Moreover, the police reached the spot three hours after the shop-owner reported the incident to the police at 6 am today.

According to sources, a gang of 14-15 criminals swooped over the cell-phone exclusive showroom “Samsung Cafe” and entered into the shop by breaking open the locks of the shutter by pressing gas-cutting equipment.�

Owner of the shop, Ashutosh Vajpayee said the burglars have decamped with 80 smart phones, all belonging to high-end price and Rs 1.48 lakh cash.

With rising cases of thefts and burglaries becoming a regular affair in the city, shopping malls, complex and showrooms are gearing up to beefed up security arrangements at their premises.

The authorities are looking forward to appoint extra security personnel and nights guards as a part of preventive measures.

Concerned over rising incidents of petty crimes, the shop owners have joined hands to counter situation. “We have installed Close Circuit Television, (CCTV’s) but that does not work 24-hours.

We have decided to appoint extra security personnel and night guards to keep the vigil on thieves and ward-off any untoward incident,” said an official of Planet M.

“We are trying to control the spurt in petty crimes in the city and we have been successful in arresting quite a few thief involved in the reported cases but I think there is a need to ensure proper night watch.

We are planning to increase the movement of mobile police,” a police official.

He went on to add that maximum cases of thefts have been reported from Bistupur, Sakchi and Golmuri areas this year. The police would increase vigil in these areas.
