Case filed against Mango Reliance Fresh


Jamshedpur, May 11: East Singhbhum Food Inspector on Monday lodged a case against Reliance Fresh Mango outlet for selling stale fruits and coloured vegetables.

Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Minister in Jharkhand Government, Saryu Rai directed the Food Inspector to lodge a case against a retail chain shop situated near Aakash Ganga under Mango Police Station and ordered the Secretary of Health Department to probe the matter.

Minister on Monday said that he went to the shop on Sunday night after customers created ruckus at the outlet for selling rotten and coloured fruits and vegetables. “I was shocked to find stale fruits, coloured vegetables at one of the branded retail chains of the country in Mango”.

Rai described the matter as very serious and immediately directed the Secretary of Health Department to probe while ordered the Food Inspector here to lodge a case against the shop of the retail chain. On the other hand, officials of Reliance Fresh refused to comment.

It may be noted, Mango resident Raju Singh, Ashish Kumar and Babita Devi went shopping at Reliance Fresh outlet in Mango on Sunday evening and complained that as they caught the potatoes yellow colour was visible on their hands while several vegetables including ladyfinger and papaya were rotten.

Soon the customers complained about the matter to BJP leader Vikash Singh.

According to reports, officials at the shop accepted that fruits and vegetables were brought three days back from Ranchi and assured to remove the same.

At the same time Mango Police Station officer Lakshman Prasad also reached the outlet were Saryu Rai ordered FIR against the shop.
