Case against 271 people after violence in Hazaribagh  

Hazaribagh: A case was registered against 271 people on Monday (October 9) in connection with the violence in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand. Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan Chothe said that the incident took place in Pelawal area on Sunday night when the bus filled with Bajrang Dal workers was returning from a program in Ranchi. He said that as soon as the bus stopped near a mosque, they allegedly started raising slogans of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and also raised some objectionable slogans. After this, the mob allegedly targeted the bus and pelted stones. He said that at least 10 Bajrang Dal workers were injured in the violence.

The Superintendent of Police said that an FIR has been registered against 271 people at Pelawal police station, in which 71 people have been named, while the rest are unknown. He said that at present the situation is under control and the police is patrolling the area. The Superintendent of Police said that no arrests have been made yet in connection with the incident. Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay said that the government will take strict action against those involved in the violence.
