Carmel Junior wins debate contest on ‘Kashmir Minus Article 370’

Jamshedpur, Sept 6: Narbheram Hansraj English School organised �NHES Inter School debate competition on 6th September in the school auditorium. The topic for the debate was “Kashmir Minus Article 370: A Victory For Indian Democracy”. The debate was organised to provide a platform to the students to voice their thoughts and feelings.

Eighteen schools of Jamshedpur participated in the contest. Each participant was allowed three minutes to speak and two minutes were allotted for rebuttal. The competition was judged by Udit Kumar Sarkar (Advocate, Jamshedpur Court), Priya Ranjan (Sr. Manager, Corporate Sustainability, Tata Steel) and Sanghamitra Kabiraj (Executive Communication Expert and Coach). A team of 55 students volunteered to organize the debate competition under the supervision of Moushumi Ghosh, teacher at NHES.

Best Speaker of the competition was Akanksha Shahi of Carmel Junior College.  Best Team award was bagged by Carmel Junior College and Kerala Samajam Model School was the runner-up. 

Jayanthi Sheshadri (Registrar and Senior English Teacher, Loyola School and recipient of President Award) was the Moderator for the event.

The Debate Competition came to an end with the declaration of the results by the Principal of the school, Paramita Roy Chaudhury.  Nakul Kamani, President of the school Managing Committee gave away the prizes to the winners.

Varsha Gandhi, Honorary Secretary of the school Managing Committee was also present.  

The programme was well attended by the members of the Managing Committee, guests, teachers and students.
