Campaign against gutkha sale in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, October 6: Following directive of East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, an investigation campaign was conducted regarding banned Gutkha in Mango Municipal Corporation area in which more than 30 shops were checked.
Banned gutkha (tobacco products) was found in five shops and a fine of Rs 200 per shop and Rs 1000 was collected.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner Suresh Yadav said that according to the order issued by the government, there is a ban on smoking in all public places under Section 4 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act 2003 (COTPA).
Under COTPA, a daily campaign will be carried out in the Municipal Corporation area to check shops and if banned Gutkha is found, a fine will be collected.
