Seraikela, Oct 17: A meeting of Gamharia Block Committee of Jharkhand Journalist Association (JJA) was organized that was chaired by the organization’s Block President Manish Kumar. State General Secretary Abhay Labh stressed that members needed to stand united as they were being made easy targets by police who were concocting false allegations and jailing JJA members. Citing an example, Abhay Labh stated, “It is very unfortunate that we are being subjected to false allegations by police officials. Recently, a journalist from Garhwa district, Mushtaq Ansari was implicated by the police under a conspiracy and sent to jail. Such incidents have happened in the past as well. For this we all need to unite and raise our voice. JJA has always been fighting for the rights and interests of journalists and will continue to do so in future. I appeal to all members of our organization to support tweets or add comments on social media on pointers made by our central and state level office bearers to strengthen our cause.”
Former JJA State Secretary Manoj Swarnakar, in his address as a Special Guest supported Labh’s suggestions. The JJA Gamharia Block Committee was expanded in which Anoop Mishra was unanimously made the Vice President, K Durga Rao as the General Secretary and Uttam Kumar as the Secretary. I-cards were also distributed among the members on this occasion.
It was announced that members who had not received their ID cards would be provided soon. The vote of thanks was offered by outgoing Block General Secretary Ganesh Sarkar.
