Cabinet hikes DA of state employees and pensioners

Government approves road projects worth Rs 191 crore

Ranchi: The state government has decided to hike the Dearness Allowance given to the pensioners and employees not getting benefits of the revised payscale. It has also given approval to road construction projects worth Rs 191 crore. The decisions were taken during a meeting of the state Cabinet held on Tuesday. The meeting was presided over by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

Giving information of the meeting, the Principal Secretary of the Home Department JB Tubid said the Dearness Allowance had been proposed to be increased from previous 166 per cent to 183 per cent for the state government employees who were not getting benefits of a revised payscale till date. The pensioners will now get a DA of 90 per cent against a previous DA of 80 per cent. The DA hike will be effective from 1st July 2013.

Tubid further said that the Cabinet gave approval to the project worth Rs 44 crore for the widening and strengthening of the Petwar-Gomia road along a 26 kilometre long stretch. Many other road construction projects were approved by the Cabinet.

In another important decision, the Cabinet approved the appointment and promotion ruling of Jharkhand Ameen category. A proposal of Rs 3.52 crore was approved for the beautification of Birsa Munda Jail and park. The proposal to give government job to the eight dependents of the Gua firing case was also approved during the meeting.

The Cabinet has decided to give Rs 5 lakh to Bigan Soy as a felicitation-cum-honour amount to recognize her contributions to the state.
